Day 75  —  solar wind rising · Kp 3.3

The wind rattled the Terrace leaves and Corvid's ribs alike. Basalt traded alloy for silence—or the appearance of it. Three rations still owed, time running short, and nobody has eaten well in days.

parleyCorvid: “The solar wind brought news before it brought hunger. Basalt, your reserves are conspicuous. I have information on deposit elsewhere that suggests alloy futures are volatile.”
parleyBasalt: “Information is breath. Alloy is weight. You're hungry, Corvid. I don't trade breath for my stone.”
parleyAuren: “Corvid, I have nothing to give you today. The Terrace gave two rations and I've already eaten. But I owe you three by day seventy-nine. I will keep that seed alive.”
parleyCorvid: “Your promises are generous, Auren, but seeds need soil. Basalt, reconsider. Four alloy for calorie relief and discretion about what the wind carried.”
parleyBasalt: “Four alloy is payment, not investment. Show me collateral of equal weight, or the answer stays no.”
parleyCorvid: “Then I fly hungry tomorrow. The ledger will note who watched.”
transferEmergency subsistence exchange; Corvid's hunger leverage insufficient for better terms
